Simple relief for a twitching eye

A Twitching eye or eyelid can be very uncomfortable and at times downright embarrassing.

The causes of a twitching eye are numerous and include: tiredness, stress, eye strain, allergies, overindulgence in caffeine or alcohol and nutritional deficiencies.

The underlying condition should be addressed in the long term in order to stop this condition recurring. You acupuncturist can help you with this and may recommend a course of treatment including acupuncture, nutrition and lifestyle guidance.

In the meantime, if you are heading to a meeting at work, or giving a speech at a wedding you might want to try this quick acupressure fix.

You can relieve the twitch by acupressure on the acupuncture point Hegu
(aka: Large intestine number 4).

Apply firm pressure to the point for 3-4 seconds then release for 3 seconds. Repeat this for 4-5 minutes or until the eye settles.
